Sessions in JpGU meetings are categorized into 7 JpGU Categories and subcategories.
Union and Public Sessions are special sessions outside of these 7 regular categories.

Union U Sessions to present up-to-date frontier topics related to all Earth and planetary sciences communities.
Public O Sessions open to the public to promote scientists' outreach activities, and to communicate with the society on understandings of research fields of our Union.
Section Leading L Sessions proposed by Section leadership for Section-wide participation and discussion.

We will provide mailing lists for communication between session conveners and presenters after scientific sessions are finalized in late-March. Please make use of this tool for organizing your session.

Union sessions focus on topics with a broad interest that are outside of a single section.

Public Sessions

Public sessions are open to general public attendees who are interested in geoscientific progress and contents to hear from an interact directly with researchers. Registration is free of charge to attend these sessions.

Joint Session with Partner Unions

At JpGU-AGU 2026, all sessions are regarded as JpGU-AGU joint sessions.
Joint sessions with AOGS, EGU, and TCGU will continue to be organized as in the previous year.
The 2026 joint sessions are scheduled to be released on Wednesday, 26 November 10 December.
 

Co-Sponsored Sessions with JpGU Society Members

Each year, sessions co-sponsored or co-organized with Society Members are also convened at the annual meetings.

These sessions are held to extend our collaborative networking with overseas societies.
