| Scope |
In this session, we focus on key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that closely align with the mission of JpGU. Our aim is to provide expert insights in a clear and engaging way, helping participants deepen their understanding of global challenges through geoscience.
For the 2026 session, we spotlight the concept of Earth's Heat Budget-a fundamental step toward understanding weather and climate systems. While this topic appears in high school earth science and geography textbooks, the diagrams often include complex numerical data derived from extensive observations and theoretical models. This makes it difficult for non-specialists to interpret the true meaning behind the visuals.
Grasping the Earth's heat budget is essential not only for understanding everyday weather, but also for exploring recent shifts in global temperatures and the rising frequency of extreme weather events. It forms the foundation for simulation-based climate research and future forecasting.
By sharing the latest scientific findings, we hope to foster a shared understanding of the SDGs and inspire informed action. Please note: This session will be conducted primarily in Japanese.
