Solid Earth Sciences (S)
Session Sub-category Seismology (SS)
Session ID S-SS04
Title Seismicity
Short Title Seismicity
Main Convener Name Nana Yoshimitsu
Affiliation Kyoto University
Co-Convener 1 Name Fuyuki Hirose
Affiliation Seismology and Tsunami Research Department, Meteorological Research Institute
Session Language
E
Scope
The objective of this session is to discuss spatio-temporal characteristics and governing mechanisms of seismicity, focusing on earthquake activity as an ensemble rather than as individual events. In addition to case studies on regional characteristics and specific earthquake sequences, this session aims to advance our understanding of the physical and chemical processes that control seismicity. We also welcome presentations addressing interactions among seismic events at various spatio-temporal scales, the boundary conditions that define seismic activity, such as tectonics, geological structures, and thermal regimes, and phenomena associated with earthquake occurrence.
