IMPORTANT NOTICE

・The registration fee will be the same for both on-site and online registrations. (There is no one-day ticket.)

・We will use "Confit" as the online meeting participation portal site, and login authentication will be required from 15 May.

The meeting registration is required to be completed by at least one day before your visit to enter the on-site venue. We strongly recommend that you complete your meeting registration well ahead of the deadline.

・The early registration deadline (scheduled for 16 April) will be set for presenters to upload their presentation materials such as e-posters to Confit.

・Please make sure to read the JpGU Meetings and Events Code of Conduct (Code of Conduct) before registering for the meeting.

・JpGU does not provide any kind of travel or lodging services. If you receive any suspicious communication, please do not reply to the listed contact information.

 

About Meeting Registration

・Anyone who has a JpGU ID can attend the meeting by making a registration. See JpGU ID Types & How to obtain a JpGU ID for details.

・The registration fee will be the same for both on-site and online registrations but the meeting registration fee is different depending on the ID category. Make sure you understand this fee structure as below before registration.

*It is not possible to change the category of ID once it has been used for session proposals or abstract submissions nor to obtain dual IDs.

Timeline for JpGU-AGU 2026 Registration

Please complete your meeting registration by this date irrespective of your presentation format, oral or poster, if you are a presenter.
This earlier deadline than regular registration is to allow for the process time to upload your presentation materials. Presenters are requested to respect this deadline.
23:59 Thu. 14 May Regular registration deadline
If you meet this deadline for registration, you will be able to log in to Confit system from 15 May when all the abstracts will be released for viewing.
23:59 Fri. 15 - Thu. 28 May Open period for registration
Once the above regular registration deadline (14 May) passes, your login to Confit system becomes available on the next day after 09:00 of your registration date. Please do not forget to have your registration completed by one day before you arrive at the venue for in-person attendance.

・You can register for the meeting even during the meeting period, but please note that there may be a time lag of up to one day before you are able to log in to Confit. Presenters who do not register by the registration deadline will not be able to upload their e-posters and other presentation materials, so we encourage you to register as early as possible.


・Please note that your ID you used for the meeting program (as convener or for abstract submission) cannot be changed (i.e. from regular member ID to meeting (participation) ID, or from meeting ID to regular member ID or AGU, AOGS, EGU member ID). Please use the same ID for registration with the one you used for meeting program. If you use another ID for registration, you will not be able to work on your presentation (including your presentation itself).


・Please obtain your JpGU ID HERE if you do not have one yet.


・The fee amounts will be announced at the start of the submission period.

 

How to Register for the Meeting

Registration should be made from the JpGU members site.
Registration will open on 05 March 2026.

Log in with your JpGU credentials > open the "JpGU Meeting" tab on the left side menu > click "Meeting Registration" and proceed.

*Please refer to the JpGU-AGU 2026 Participation Manual for further instructions on registration. (coming soon.)
*2026 annual membership due (only JpGU Members) payment is required before making a meeting registration.
If the annual due of 2025 and/or before is not settled yet, please process it first.
 

JpGU Meetings and Events Code of Conduct

The following JpGU Meetings and Events Code of Conduct (Code of Conduct) is established to ensure all participants can take part in JpGU events in a safe and secure environment.
This Code of Conduct applies to all events with JpGU as the main organizer including all events connected with a JpGU meeting or event, whether in public or private facilities.
We kindly ask all participants to review and adhere to this code during the meetings and events.
 

Request for your Cooperation as OSPA Voluntary Judges

Japan Geoscience Union is promoting outstanding research presentations by the students and to improve their research presentation skills. We have established the Outstanding Student Presentation Award to recognize students who have given excellent presentations at the Japan Geoscience Union meetings.
The Student Award Committee aims to allocate two to three judges for each presentation, and we will need the cooperation of a large number of judges to reach our goal.

Notes on Reviewing

・Meeting registration is required for judging.
・The judge must not be a co-author of the presentation to be reviewed, the academic supervisor and must not belong to the same department as the presenter.
・Poster presentations reviews will be based on the on-site poster presentation.
・The judging criteria is available HERE.

How to Become a Judge

Those who have indicated their willingness to cooperate in judging at the time of registration will be automatically entered in the OSPA system. (The judge system will be released at a later date.)

 

Financial Support and Subsidies

We plan to provide the financial support for students to attend JpGU-AGU 2026 .
Further details will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
 

Registration Subsidy for Joint Sessions with AGU

For all sessions approved as joint sessions with AGU, the registration fee for one presenter per session will be waived.

How to Apply
・The application period for the subsidy is from late February to early March. (tentative schedule)
・Please apply using the designated form once the application period has started.
*The form information will be sent to the conveners of the applicable sessions.
*Registration is scheduled to open on 6 March, but if you have been notified by the session convener that you are eligible for this subsidy, please do not register by yourself, but wait for the convener or the secretariat to contact you regarding the registration procedure.
 

How to Attend

You can participate in JpGU-AGU 2026 either on-site or online or both.
 

Online Participation

If you are attending online, the Meeting portal site (Confit) is the platform for your participation.
Confit will be launched on Friday, 27 March (tentative), and login authentication will be required from 15 May to visit the Meeting Participation site.
*Your meeting registration does not immediately enable you to connect to the meeting portal site for log in. It will take one day at the most for you to be able to log in if you register for the meeting on and after 16 May. Please note this time gap.

Please note that you will not be able to upload you e-poster and additional materials if you have logged in (registered) with a JpGU ID other than your JpGU ID you used to submit your abstract.
 

On-site Participation

If you are attending on site, please make sure to complete your registration and bring the e-ticket issued by at least one day before your visit. The e-ticket will become downloadable from 15 May.
Please make sure that you can login to Confit before you come to the venue, as you will need to login to view the program, e-poster, and other information on Confit even when you attend in-person.
*In order to avoid congestion at the registration desk and to reduce costs, we regretfully cannot accept registration at the site.
 

Free Participation on the Open Day to Public

Free participation is offered to attend the oral and poster presentations in Public Sessions on the "Public Day" on Sunday, 24 May.
Up to undergraduate students can attend the whole meeting free of charge by acquiring a JpGU ID and making a meeting registration.
Details on Public Sessions and participation are to be open as soon as they are ready.
 

Attendance of the Press

Request for the Media Covering in JpGU-AGU 2026

Thank you to all press and media personne for considering coverage of the Japan Geoscience Union Meeting.
Pre-registration is required to cover the JpGU-AGU 2026, regardless of whether you wish to attend online or onsite.
Upon registration, you will be issued an e-ticket to enter the on-site venue at Makuhari Messe and an ID to log in to the online venue (Confit system). Please register at least one day before the date you plan to attend. For details on the press registration schedule, please see the following designated webpage.

Obtaining your JpGU ID (JpGU Member or Non-Member)

Anyone can obtain a JpGU ID. JpGU ID is required to submit abstracts and/ or register for the meeting.
 

How to Obtain JpGU ID as a JpGU Member or a non-Member

JpGU ID can be obtained at JpGU system below.
*JpGU ID category is not changeable once you propose a session or submit an abstract using it.

 

Fiscal Year of Membership

If you wish to receive a discount and other services that JpGU provides for Members, please obtain a JpGU Member ID.
This ID requires the annual due payment to be up to date as a JpGU Member to participate in JpGU-AGU 2026.

The fiscal year of 2026 membership starts on 15 Jan 2026.
Attendees who will create the JpGU Member ID is recommended to do so on or after this date.
The JpGU Member ID can be created anytime but if you create the ID on or before 15 January 2026, you will be charged the annual due for 2025 year and you will also be charged the annual due of 2026 in order to participate in the meeting.
 

For Conveners to Propose a Session

Conveners must use the same JpGU ID to propose a session, submit an abstract, purchase a discussion frame and make a meeting registration.

・If a convener becomes a JpGU Member during September to December 2025 to propose a session, the person will be charged the annual due of 2025 fiscal year. In addition to this, annual due for 2026 is necessary to attend the meeting in 2026. The annual due for 2026 opens its payment in January 2026.


* Conveners who will newly acquire an ID are expected to refer to the Fee Table and learn about the difference of the meeting registration rates BEFORE becoming a JpGU Member or creating a Nonmember ID.

 

AGU Members to Obtain JpGU ID

AGU members may create a JpGU ID by registering their AGU account with JpGU. In this case, AGU member will not be charged the annual due for JpGU membership.
*The AGU membership must be up to date with the membership due of AGU. If your AGU membership is expired at the time JpGU conducts a status check, your JpGU ID will also be invalid.

【How to Obtain】
1. Click the "Register My AGU Account with JpGU" button below.
2. (You will be redirected to AGU website) Log in with your AGU log in credentials.
3. Follow the instructions displayed on the AGU website.
4. Your JpGU ID will be sent to the registered email address.

Becoming Regular JpGU Members means enjoying all the Member benefits including elections.
 

AOGS and EGU Members to Obtain JpGU ID

・JpGU Members discount is applied to AOGS and EGU members.

【How to Obtain】
1. Select Nonmember
2. Enter your email address
3. Click the URL sent to your email address.
4. Checkmark AOGS or EGU when you are asked if you belong to any Societies.

・Members of our Partner Unions and Society, AGU, EGU and AOGS, may create an ID either using their membership of partner unions or as JpGU Member.

* Please note that an individual can only hold one JpGU ID.
Once the ID holder proposes a session and/or submit an abstract, the ID cannot be converted to another ID category.

* JpGU member discount applies for AGU, AOGS and EGU members.

The senior discount is available to JpGU regular members, but only for this meeting, it will also be applicable to AGU senior members. No senior discount is provided for members of AOGS or EGU.
 

Procedures for Student Discount (Graduate Students)

Graduate students can attend the meeting in a discounted rate by completing the student discount application procedures.
Please note that the approval for the student discount is required every year and your student status must be up-to-date to receive the discount. Please make sure your application is completed before you take any action.

[NOTE]
It may take some time before you get the approval and the new ID is issued.
You may not be able to submit your abstract if you try to obtain the ID just before the submission deadline. If you are planning to submit an abstract, we encourage you to obtain an ID as soon as possible.

Students who is newly obtaining a JpGU ID Students are asked to enter the information of their supervisors when obtaining a JpGU ID.
An auto-email is sent to your supervisor requesting your student status confirmation. Once confirmed, your ID will be issued and you will be informed by email.
The ID will not be valid until the student status of the applicant is confirmed by the student's supervisor.
*A supervisor doesn't need to have a JpGU ID, but if the person has one, we strongly advise students not to skip the input of the JpGU ID. If the JpGU ID is correctly registered, the supervisor is able to confirm your student status by logging in to the JpGU members page. This will help your ID creation if the auto-email cannot be found or reached.
*JpGU ID is required to log in to the JpGU Members Site, register for the meeting and submit abstracts.
*The email may be classified as a junk and sent to the junk/spam email folder. Students are advised to directly contact their supervisors for cooperation.
Students who already have JpGU ID (Student status update) After logging in to your personal account on the JpGU Member site, click the 'Account Settings' button and proceed from the "'Student Discount Application" link. By entering the information of your supervisor, the auto-email is sent to the person.
Applicant's (Student's) action The student status confirmation is automatically completed right after the confirmation email is sent to your supervisor. If there is no change in your student status, no action is required and you will be able to process the payment of the annual dues, register for the meeting and submit abstracts at a discount rate.
Supervisor's action No action is required if you will guarantee the student status of the applicant (student).
Please just let us know when the applicant is not qualified as "student" and you must decline the request.

*Please note that we might cancel the student discount if we receive a denial from your supervisor. In such case, the membership category of the applicant will be changed to "Regular" and the regular fees will be charged.
Please also be noted that if we receive a contact after the meeting and the student attended the meeting as a "student," we may ask the applicant to pay the balance due later.
 

Change of Student Status

Please check the following if you will complete graduate school by March 2026.
To qualify as a "student," the conditions are:

If you apply for discount in Jan-Mar: Must be a student in following May. If you apply for discount in Apr-Dec: Must be a student at the time of application
Entry for Outstanding Student Presentation Award (OSPA) Must be a student at the time of presentation

* Post-docs are not students and are regular members.

* If you graduate from student in March at the end of 2025 academic year, and only if you will not renew your membership after graduation, we will extend your student membership to end of May. (Members' fee is not charged for April and May and can participate in the Meeting as a student) Please contact JpGU Office directly if you wish to do so. However, your ID will be deleted immediately after the Meeting if you use this system.
