Japan Earth Science Olympiad
Committee (JESOC)
Japan Earth Science Olympiad
Committee (JESOC) has held the 2nd selection for the 3rd international
Earth Science Olympiad in Taiwan or the 1st Japan Earth Science Olympiad
final on March 29 at Tokyo University among 28 junior high and high
school students who have won the 1st selection held at the end of last
year.
Practical tests such as one using indoor planetarium and interview were
conducted.
We’re now selecting 4 most excellent performers and 4 excellent
performers.
We’re planning to make them public on April 17.
We also are planning to stage an awarding ceremony at lunch time on May
17 during JpGU Meeting 2009 at Makuhari Messe.
International Geography
Olympiad Japan
On March 20, Friday, the 2nd Asia Pacific Regional Geography Olympiad or
Asia-Pacific Geography Olympiad Selection was held at 13 venues around
Japan. About 200 participants mean 60 % increase over the previous year.
34 medalists were selected including 8 gold medalists, 16 silver
medalists and 34 bronze medalists. Among 8 gold medalists, 4 were
selected as candidates for Asia-Pacific Geography Olympiad.
Awarding Ceremony was held in Teikyo University during the Spring
Meeting of Association of Japanese Geographers.
Asia-Pacific Geography Olympiad is to be held in Ttsukuba University and
its surrounding area from August 2 to 6.
All the tests are given and answered in English.
4 selected students are going to stay in a training camp in June.

It’s necessary for you to
become a member of Japan Geoscience Union.
Discounted price for abstract submission and participation are adopted
for members.

Payment
Basically we ask you to pay by cash at the counter on the first day when
you come to the meeting if you applied to us using Abstract Submission
Form or Registration Form.
You can get your name tag, program and CD Rom after the payment.
Please come to the venue as early in advance as possible, as we may
require you a certain amount of time.
If you live in Japan and Japanese is available, we recommend you to pay
in advance by bank transfer to our account.
