#2. The JpGU Meeting 2018 Information [Important]

(1) Final Program Information
The program has been finalized based on the total number of abstracts
received to each session and will be published on March 14 on the web.
There are many updates on the scheduling. Please make sure to check
the latest program before you present at/ attend the meeting.

Notification of acceptance will be distributed via email tomorrow,
March 13.

We hope all attendees enjoy the 2018 meeting.

All attendees are required to make an online Meeting registration in
order to attend our meeting. If you wish to receive a discounted rate,
please finish your registration during the Early Registration period.

-Discounted rates are only applicable for JpGU Members and our partner
Union Members (AGU/ EGU and AOGS). Please note that Nonmembers do
not receive any discount.

-Senior Discount
The registration fee for seniors of JpGU Members is free of charge.
Seniors who wish to receive this rate are kindly requested to change their
membership categories to “Senior” by themselves.
Please note that this discount is not applicable for AGU senior members.

(3) Lunchtime Special Lecture
World class researchers will deliver lectures every day during lunchtime.
The lectures for this year are the 2nd Nishida Prize Recipients.

(4) Call for High School Students Poster Presentation
The application of presenters for poster presentation by high school
student is now open. The deadline is April 10.

(8) Child Care Service
JpGU will provide a child care service during the meeting.
Details on how to apply, application period and etc. will be posted
on our website and be sent out on the Emailnews April Issue.

(9) Various Applications
JpGU offers rental rooms for business meeting during the meeting.
We will provide these room on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Application for Society members will open on March 14 and after one
week on March 22 for all attendees.

(10) Student Work Program (Part Time Job at the Meeting)
JpGU will start calling for part time student workers during the
meeting.
Application is planned to be open in April.
Details will be announced on the next Emailnews.

JpGU issues letters and supporting documents for Visa application to
those who are planning to present or attend the meeting.

#3. Request for 2018 Annual Due Payment [Important]

The 2018 JpGU membership year (fiscal year) is from April 1, 2018 to
March 31, 2019.
The membership will automatically extend to another membership year
unless you withdraw it by yourself.

[Important Notes]
-The payment of annual due should be completed prior to a meeting
registration.
-Nonmembers are not required annual dues, however discounted rate for
meeting registration is not applied.
-JpGU members who do not wish to continue the 2018 membership may
withdraw their membership by March 31 without being charged the due for
2018

(1) Global Strategy Committee
JpGU is pleased to announce that 11 EGU-JpGU Joint Sessions will be
hosted at EGU General Assembly 2018 to be held from April 8 – 13 in
Vienna.

(2) Committee for Diversity Management and Talent Pool
The Committee continuously requests for cooperation for a 5-10 minute

(1) PEPS Publication Numbers for 2017

– Number of articles submitted in 2017: 109
(of which accepted: 34, rejected: 25, under review: 45, withdrawn: 5,
all as of Feb. 28, 2018)

– Number of articles published in 2017: 41
– Number of completed article reviews and re-reviews: 291
– Average time taken to complete a review: 26 days
– Average time from submission to final decision: 141 days
– Average time from acceptance to publication: 23 days

(2) New Editorial Board Members

We would like to introduce eight new editorial board members who
joined PEPS in 2017. They will further increase the expertise of our
editorial board and enable us to provide detailed coverage of many
additional subfields.
