(1) Final Abstract Submission Deadline Approaching! [6 days left!]
There still are 6 days left to submit your paper for the JpGU Meeting
2018!
Please note that we DO NOT accept submissions after the deadline.

As the deadline approaches, the significant congestion in the submission
website/ system is expected. Please finish your submission well ahead
of time.

-Discounted rates are only applicable for JpGU Members and our partner
Union Members (AGU/ EGU and AOGS). Please note that Nonmembers do
not receive any discount.

-Senior Discount
The registration fee for seniors of JpGU Members is free of charge.
Seniors who wish to receive this rate are kindly requested to change their
membership categories to “Senior” by themselves.
Please note that this discount is not applicable for AGU senior members.

#3. Request for Annual Due Payments [Important]
The 2018 JpGU membership year (fiscal year) is from April 1, 2018 to
March 31, 2019.
The membership will automatically extend to another membership year
unless you withdraw it by yourself.

[Important Notes]
-The payment of annual due should be completed prior to a meeting
registration.
-Nonmembers are not required annual dues, however discounted rate for
meeting registration is not applied.
-JpGU members who do not wish to continue the membership for 2018
may withdraw their membership by March 31 without being charged an
additional annual due.

#4. 2018 Japan Geoscience Union Scientific Award “Miyake Prize”

recipient of Japan Geoscience Union Scientific Award “Miyake Prize”.

The Committee continuously requests for cooperation for a survey (5-

(2) General Affairs Committee
Introduction of a new support member

publication. To do this, we have developed a variety of services for a wide

(3) Japan Earth Science Olympiad Committee
The 10th Japan Earth Science Olympiad preliminary selection (12th
International Earth Science Olympiad preliminary selection at the same
time) was held at 73 sites all around Japan on December 17, 2017.

67 students were awarded out of 1,903 students (2,211 applicants) and 60
students are going to challenge the final selection from March 11 to 13, 2018.

#6. Information from PEPS
(1) Reprint Service
PEPS is an open access journal, and so anyone can both freely access
our papers online and download them as PDF files. Unlike conventional
print journals PEPS does not supply reprints, however reprints of the
pdf file may be ordered from the Springer Open platform on which PEPS
is published.

(2) PEPS Special Sessions at the JpGU Annual Meeting 2018
For budgetary reasons this year there will be no PEPS Special Sessions
