JpGU Meeting 2021
Meeting Format: Hybrid (Virtual + On-site)
On-site Venue：Pacifico Yokohama North
Dates & Contents：
MAY 30 (SUN) – JUNE 1 (TUE) On-site, mainly poster presentations
JUNE 3 (THU)-JUNE 6 (SUN) Virtual, oral and poster presentations
* It is possible that we may have to limit or cancel the on-site meeting. In either of these cases, online events will also be scheduled for June 2 (WED). Details on dates are available at
(2) Session Proposal Closed
The call for sessions has closed on Nov 4 and we received 223 proposals
in total for the 2021 meeting. Thank you very much for those who have
submitted a proposal.
The Program Committee will review all the proposals to assemble the program plan. We look forward to receiving your abstracts at JpGU 2021.

#3. 2021 JpGU Fellowship Program
Fellowship Program confers fellowship honors upon individuals who
have made contributions to the field of geoscience research in Japan
by making significant discoveries breakthroughs or paradigm shift,
or contributing to the development of Japanese geoscience and the
dissemination of geoscientific knowledge.
Please see the details shown below and send the documents necessary
for the nomination by the deadline.
Nomination deadline: December 31st Thursday, 2020

#4. 4th Nishida Prize for Promotion of Geo- and Planetary Science
Japan Geoscience Union (JpGU) is now accepting recommendations for
candidates for the 4th Nishida Prize for Promotion of Earth and Planetary
JpGU has created the “Nishida Prize for Promotion of Earth and Planetary
Science” in 2014 to honor internationally recognized mid-career
researchers under the age of 45.
Application deadline：December 15th Tuesday, 2020

Please note that the Joint Sessions with JpGU at the forthcoming virtual
AGU Fall Meeting 1-17 Dec 2020 are listed as Co-sponsored sessions at:
For this meeting, the list includes many sessions recommended by the JpGU Science Sections and accepted by the AGU session conveners. AGU is one of the international scientific unions (AGU, AOGS, EGU) in partnership with JpGU.

(1) Japan Earth Science Olympiad Committee
-The application for the first round of the 13th Japan Geoscience Olympiad (online from home) is open until November 15. If you know eligible middle and high school students, please introduce them to us.
-Earth Science Lecture for the public will be held on Sunday, November 15, online at 2-4PM. Lecturers are Prof. Shintaro Hayashi (Akita University) and Prof. Eiichi Tajika (The University of Tokyo).
