#2. The JpGU-AGU Joint Meeting 2020 Information

* * * * * * * * * * * * * *
JpGU has set up a task force to cope with the novel coronavirus
situation. This group will be monitoring and assessing the developing
status from all available sources of information.
In case we find it difficult to hold a safe meeting due to external
circumstances, JpGU will consider alternate forms of the meeting and
presentations. At present, we are on schedule preparing to hold the
meeting joint with AGU as planned.

(1) Final Program Information
The final program will be published on Friday, March 13.
There are many updates on the final schedule. Please make sure to check
the latest program before you attend the meeting.

Notification of acceptance will be distributed via email on March 12.

(2) Meeting Registration
We are accepting registration for the meeting in early-bird discount
rate until May 8.

*Please note that abstract submission fee does not register you for
the meeting. Meeting registration is a separate procedure.

-Public attendees who will attend public sessions on open-to-public day,
can attend free of charge.
-Undergraduate students and younger can attend the full meeting free
of charge.

This year’s after convention field trip is a tour to explore Mt.Tsukuba.

(4)[Now Accepting] Call for High School Students Poster Presentation

The application of presenters for poster presentation by high school
student is now open. The deadline is March 31.

(5) Child Care Service
JpGU will provide a childcare service during the meeting.
Details on how to apply, application period etc. will be posted
on our website and be delivered to you in the JpGU NEWS & Info.

(6) Various Applications
JpGU offers rental rooms for business meeting during the meeting.
We will provide these room on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Application for Society members will open on March 16. We will open
the call for all participants at the end of March.

(7) Student Work Program (Part Time Job at the Meeting)
JpGU will start calling for part time student workers during the
meeting. Application is planned to be open in April.

(8) Housing Information
Nippon Travel Agency has opened the website for local accommodations
for JpGU-AGU 2020 attendees.

#3.From Committees

(1) Japan Earth Science Olympiad Committee

The committee decided to cancel the Japan Earth Science Olympiad
scheduled on 15-17 March due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus
outbreak.
The top 15 candidates from the preliminary stage will compete the
selection to win the place to be the International Science Olympiad
contestants when the situation allows.
