Public Announcement of the by-election for the 2020 JpGU Representative Election

Declaration of candidacy for 2020 JpGU Representative Election ended
at 5pm on Thursday September 12th 2019. The number of candidates for
Electoral Zone “Education and Outreach” was 16, then it did not
exceed the fixed number 17.

Therefore, 16 persons of candidates for this Electoral Zone will
automatically be elected without any votes being cast, and JpGU will
hold the by-election for the Electoral Zone “Education and Outreach”
based on Detailed Regulations of the Representative Election Article
6 (3).
Period for declaration of candidacy starts at 3pm Tuesday September
17th and ends at 5pm Thursday 19th 2019, and other rules including
period for voting and how to vote will be equivalent to the 2020 JpGU
Representative Election.
The by-election for the “Education and Outreach” and regular
election for other Electoral Zones are held during same term and on
the same online system.

==The by-election for 2020 JpGU Representative Election
Rules and Procedures==

1.Voters
Anyone who is a fully paid up JpGU member as of 5pm Japan time on
July 11th 2017 and belonging to Electoral Zone “Education and
Outreach” is eligible to vote.

2.Candidates
Anyone who is a fully paid up JpGU member as of 5pm Japan time on
July 11th 2019 is eligible to be a candidate in the representative
election.

3.Term
Those who are elected will serve a two year term starting from April
1st 2020.

4.Standing as a candidate
JpGU members may put themselves forward as candidates and they may
also recommend other members who they think would make good candidates.
Members who recommend others for candidacy must obtain consent from
their proposed candidate before submitting their recommendation. Both
submitting oneself as a candidate and recommending others is done
online using the JpGU Member’s Site.

5.Deadline for Submission of Candidacy
Those who wish to be a candidate or to recommend others as candidates
must submit the relevant online form by 5pm Japan time on September
19th 2019.

8.How to vote
Logging-in to the JpGU Members Site, each regular member who is
belonging to Electoral Zone “Education and Outreach” can vote for
one person.

Forms and Regulations
1.To stand as a candidate: log-in to the JpGU Members Site and fill
in and submit the “Stand as a Candidate” form.

2.To recommend a candidate: log-in to the JpGU Members Site and
fill in and submit the “Recommend a Candidate” form.

All rules, procedures, dates and times etc. governing the JpGU
Representative Election are formally announced in Japanese.
