5:International coordination of JpGU
JpGU supports science without borders and works towards “for a borderless world of geoscience.” We are striving to make our scientific research and outreach efforts in a coordinated way with international network of geoscience societies with relevance to the wellbeing of the humankind. An example is the Declaration of the Significance of Geoscience Expertise to Meet Global Societal Challenges (https://www.egu.eu/news/654/declaration-of-the-significance-of-geoscience-expertise-to-meet-gobal-societal-challenges/) cosigned by 23 organizations led by the European Geosciences Union. Another example is the Earth Day Announcement by 16 geoscience societies made in April 2023 (https://www.jpgu.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/EarthDayMessages2023.png).
