Major achievements

In recognition of Brooks Hanson’s outstanding contributions to developing international relations in the field of earth and planetary science and his contributions to fostering links between AGU and JpGU. In particular he played a leading role in preparing for the 2020 AGU-JpGU joint meeting and in arranging and contributing to multiple AGU–JpGU joint sessions on subjects such as the role of the academic community in supporting Open Science, the role of academic societies in explaining the value of scientific knowledge to the wider community and an international comparison of the ways in which researchers in the earth and planetary sciences value their research and the impact it may have on society.
