Statement regarding the earthquake in Myanmar

We express our deep concern regarding the recent earthquake in Myanmar, with the tragic loss of human life and great damage to the infrastructure.
The effects are widespread across the country and beyond with loss of life and damage also seen in parts of Thailand. Our thoughts are with the people affected by the disaster and the emergency response teams, as they work toward recovery.

This event highlights the importance of international collaboration on advancing seismic monitoring, risk assessment, and efforts to mitigate future disasters. As an academic society, JpGU remains committed to fostering research and collaboration aimed at understanding active fault research and addressing earthquake hazards worldwide.
