For 15 years since the establishment of the Geoscience Joint Annual Meeting Administration Organization, she has devoted herself to the management of the Secretariat and the meetings as the Secretary General, and has made a great contribution to the establishment and development of the Japan Geoscience Union by laying the foundation for the current management of the Secretariat and the activities of the Japan Geoscience Union.

I am humbled to be invited to this event to commemorate the 30th anniversary of RENGO. I would like to thank all from the bottom of my heart, to share this gratitude as recognition of the efforts of the entire secretariat. In the summer of 1999, I was moved by Dr. Hamano and Dr. Tajika’s avid enthusiasm to continue holding the annual joint meeting into the future. Since that time, as we faced various turning points, I learned about the strong wish and the selfless dedication of the people involved in the activities of the RENGO for the progress of Earth and planetary science thus advancing the science. Such wish has become a driving force to be co-owned with us, the secretariat, who are not scientists, to do our best. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful time we have had working together, meeting so many people and receiving so much guidance. The many things I have learned through RENGO – working not for my own benefit, but for someone else’s – have been a great source of encouragement for me since then. I sincerely wish for the further development of RENGO so that everyone’s wishes will be fulfilled.
