President Election

 

Section
President Election is going to be held.
Representatives elected by staff at the 1st Representative
Election are eligible to be section presidents.
All member of JpGU can make a vote for Section President
Election.
Please be active in standing as a candidate and casting your
ballots votes to fulfill our objectives based on each
section members’ will.

Role of Section President
JpGU has set five autonomous sections to support scholarly
activities. They are Space and Planetary Sciences,
Atmospheric, Ocean, and Environmental Sciences, Human
Geosciences, Solid Earth Sciences and Biogeosciences.
Each section has science board and president. Section
presidents organize their section boards and help develop
promoting their scientific fields. They also organize Union
Science Board and try to develop earth planetary science as
a whole together with JpGU president and vice president.

1) Venus
Climate Orbiter “Planet-C was Nicknamed “Akatsuki”

 

Venus explorer
greatly supported by all of you, was finally named “Akatsuki.”

It has been called “PLANET-C,” the name of the project and
English name “Climate Orbiter,” but now was given a new
Japanese name.
Now this project is in the final stage for the launch
planned in 2010.


Earthly data processing system is created at high speed.

JAXA.

Committees

 

1) NPO Japan
Earth Science Olympiad Committee

 

Participants
for the 2nd Japan Earth Science Olympiad or the 4th
International Earth Science Olympiad held in Indonesia in
2010 are wanted.

From 3rd
graders of junior high school to 2nd graders of high school
are eligible for the competition. 3rd graders of high school
and 2nd graders of junior high school or younger can also
challenge the domestic competition although they can’t
participate in the international competition.
As for November 2, 92 students from 11 schools have already
applied.

2) JpGU Career
Supporting Working Group by young researchers

 

We’ve been
conducting interview and questionnaire surveys on situation
surrounding young researchers since last year. We’ve now
wrapped them up and made a report.
