#2. Call for Session Proposal for JpGU Meeting 2019【from Sept 3】
We are pleased to announce that the session proposal for the JpGU
Meeting 2019 starts soon on September 3rd 2018. We invite your to
submit a session, which we believe is a key to the success of our
meeting.
The 2019 meeting website with more details will open on the same day.

Meeting Website Opens: Sept 3rd (MON), 2018
Session Proposal Period: Sept 3rd (MON) – Oct 12th (FRI), 2018
Session Release: Nov 21(WED), 2018
Session Schedule Release: Dec 3rd (MON), 2018
Abstract Submission Period: Jan 8th (TUE) – Feb 19 (TUE), 2019
NEW for 2019
– Session language will be E and J (no EJ category this year.)
– Presenter must be the first author and the submitter of the abstract.
– The maximun abstract one person can submit is 5 in total.
– The processing fee will be charded for payments methods other than
credit cards or “by organization”.
– There will be no refund of abstract submission fees for rejected
abstracts.
We are waiting for your proposals.

#3. Announcement of New Society Member
We are honored to announce that Japan Society for Natural Disaster
Science has joined to JpGU as the newest society member, so that
JpGU has 50 society members now.

#4. Give 3,000JPY to JpGU
Every year, JpGU provides various services to our members, public
and society in the Earth and planetary science field. They are
supported by the annual dues of our members and meeting registration
fees of JpGU annual meetings.
I believe we need to continue the advancement even further. For that,
not only the high-level scientific researches but also financial
resources are essential elements to it.
I hereby would like to ask for your help in giving 3,000JPY
(approx. $30) to JpGU.
One of our financial goal is to be a certified organization in donation
taxation system. One of the criteria requires more than 3,000JPY
(approx. $30) from more than100 people in a year. This might not
appear to be a big deal but it’s a large barrier we are facing.
Thus, again I would like to ask for your assistance in reaching
our goal.
Your donation will make a significant difference and will allow us
to continue to play a strong and prestigious role in the scientific
community.

#5. Information for 2018 Nonmember ID Holders
The nonmember ID, 6 digits starting for 18-, is an ID for the use
of registration, abstract submission and other fees accosiated to the
JpGU 2018 meeting.
The duration of this temporally ID will expired on August 31, 2018.
If you are a Nonmember ID holder and wish to participate in our next
meeting, please re-acquire a new ID.
The Nonmember ID creation for 2019 meeting will be available from
September 3, 2018.

#6. Session proposal for EGU General Assembly 2019 as a JpGU Member
Session proposal for EGU General Assembly 2019 has started and is open
until September 6, Thursday, 2018.
Based on the MOU between JpGU and EGU, JpGU is promoting joint sessions
with EGU. JpGU members (if they are not EGU members) can create an EGU
ID without becoming an EGU member and propose a co-sponsored session
at EGU General Assembly 2019.

#7. JpGU invites members to celebrate AGU’s Centennial
AGU (American Geophysical Union) is established in 1919 and reaches
the centennial of its founding in 2019. During the last century,
discoveries in Earth and space science have changed our understanding
of the world and beyond.
JpGU joins AGU to invite you to support, contribute, and celebrate
science and scientists during AGU’s Centennial by participating in
the following:

1. Join AGU’s “100 Facts and Figures” communication campaign
This campaign calls attention to some of the most meaningful,
interesting, and relevant Earth and space science facts and figures
from the past 100 years in the form of “shareables” that are intended
to resonate with scientists and the science interested public alike.
From now until the end of 2019 AGU will release new facts and figures
every week and you will find them here:

Please share the AGU’s “100 Facts and Figures” using the hashtag #AGU100.
AGU is also inviting JpGU community to submit ideas for facts and
figures that highlight important geoscience discoveries (submission

2. Ask JpGU members to share their stories
Through the StoryCorps app, JpGU members can become part of an
ever-growing repository of “Narratives: A 100 Years of Stories.” By
participating, JpGU members become part of a diverse community of
Earth and space scientists that are highlighting their challenges and
achievements and the value of their science to society.
