#1. The JpGU-AGU Joint Meeting 2017 Information [Important]

(1) Abstract submission Deadline Approaching!

You have a few days left to complete your submission and payment to
present at our meeting.
The deadline is Feb 16th at 5:00pm JST. Abstracts will not be accepted
for review after this date.

As the deadline approaches, the significant congestion in the submission
system is expected. Please finish your submission well ahead of time.

***Submission Fee: 4,320 JPY (tax included)/ submission***

* All attendees including invited authors should submit their abstracts

(3) New Event:”Oshaberi” bar (Pop-Up talks) will be held at JpGU-AGU!!

What is it?
“Oshaberi” means “to chat” in Japanese. This is an event where you
can casually talk about anything relating with science for around 5-8
mins (with a beer?).

What do you present?
It can be anything including your own research, current affairs, life
as a graduate student/ experience as an early career scientist.

Who is eligible to present?
Students/ early career scientists (below 30yrs old)
All presenters will get an AWESOME T-shirt!

(4) Party Information

Do you want to have fun with your colleges?
Do you want to meet new people?
Then, why don’t you join our party?

The party will be held on May 23rd starting at 7:00pm with delicious food,
beverages and fun lottery game!

Party registration will open in April. Don’t miss it!

(5) Child Care Service

“Little Garden WBG School” provides a professional children’s program
during JpGU-AGU Joint Meeting 2017. This nursery school is five-minute
walk from the meeting site and they have English speaking foreign teachers
and bilingual staff.

They offer a special price to the meeting attendees and moreover, JpGU
will partially subsidize the costs.

More information will soon be available at our meeting website.

(6) Housing Information
The site for housing will open on February 17th at 6:00pm JST.

#2. Annual due payments

The 2017 membership period is from April 1st, 2017 to March 31st, 2018.
The membership will automatically extend to another membership year
unless you withdraw it.

In order to make a meeting registration payment, the 2017 annual due
has to be paid.

Non-members are not required annual dues, however discounted rate for
meeting registration is not adopted.

#3. From Committees

(1) Japan Earth Science Olympiad Committee

The 9th Japan Earth Science Olympiad preliminary selection (11th International
Earth Science Olympiad preliminary selection at the same time) was held at 74
sites all around Japan on December 18th, 2016.
1,594 students out of 1,924 applicants participated and 60 were elected. They
are going to challenge the final selection held on March 12th to 14th, 2017.

The reception of articles for a new SPEPS (Special call for excellent papers on hot topics) series has been started.
We are looking forward to receiving your excellent manuscripts on:
“Ionospheric plasma bubble seeding and development”
