#2. The 2017 Meeting Information

(1)About Joint Meeting 2017

JpGU-AGU Joint Meeting 2017 is the first joint meeting co-sponsored
by JpGU and AGU. The meeting will be held in May in Chiba, Japan.

*Presentation will be made in either English or Japanese.
*The 2017 meeting is managed by policy of both societies. Please
refer to the Convener Guidelines shown below and learn the changes before proposing a
session.

#3. From Committees

(1)Information System Committee

JpGU have been registered as an ORCID member organization.
ORCID(Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is an international persistent
identifier which is managed by a nonprofit organization with the same name.
( http://orcid.org )
ORCID is used to identify authors and academic researchers.
As of September, 2017, they have more than 2,500,000 members.
AGU requests contributors to their journals to acquire ORCID.
JpGU decided to adopt ORCID for the promotion of internationalization,
earlier than any other academic societies in Japan.
Further details will be announced continuously.

(2)Japan Earth Science Olympiad Committee

The 10th International Earth Science Olympiad(IESO) was held from
August 20th – 27th in Mie, Japan.
About 100 high school students from 26 countries participated.
Japan team won 3 gold medals and 1 silver which is the highest record
ever in this competition.
<Results>

1st place: Taiwan
2nd place: Japan
3rd place: Korea

*Call for the next Japan Earth Science Olympiad participants has
started (from Sept 1st- Nov 15th).The 2017 IESO will be held in France.
We are waiting for your participation.

(3)Japan Committee for International Geography Olympiad

The 13th International Geography Olympiad(iGeo) was held from August 16th-
22nd in Beijing, China. Japan won 2 silver medals, 1 bronze and Poster Award
which was given to outstanding posters from three countries in the poster
session.

Call for 14th iGeo Japan qualification tournament will start on October 1st.

(1) Call for Proposals for PEPS Special Sessions with financial support

PEPS calls for proposals for PEPS special sessions, offering financial
support to participants from abroad who make presentations at the PEPS
special sessions.

Submission deadline: October 15, 2016
