(1) About JpGU-AGU Joint Meeting 2020

(3) Joint Sessions with coordinating Unions

Joint Sessions with our Partner Unions, EGU and AOGS will be
held in the upcoming JpGU-AGU 2020.
The approved sessions will be promoted as “Joint Sessions”.
To be considered as joint session, conveners should submit the
application and be accepted by each Union.

*Note:
2020 Meeting itself is held joint with AGU. All sessions are considered
as jointed with AGU and NO application is required.

(4) Co-Sponsored Session with Society Members

Co-Sponsored Sessions with our Society Members will also be held at
the 2020 meeting.

If a convener wishes to have a co-sponsored session, please contact the
representatives of each society directly.
Please note that the request must be sent by October 11 at 5:00pm
(the session proposal deadline) in order to be accepted.

#5. From Committees

(1) Japan Earth Science Olympiad Committee

The 13th International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) was held from
August 26 – Sept 3 in Daegu, Republic of Korea. The total number of
participants were 163 students from 43 countries and regions.
Japan team won the first place by getting 4 gold medals. This is the
best record ever and in Japan’s science Olympiad history.
Congratulations for the remarkable achievement!


1st place: Japan / Korea (with 4 gold medals, tie for first place)

*Call for the next Japan Earth Science Olympiad participants has
started on Sept 1st to Nov 15th. The preliminary contest is
scheduled on Dec 15. We are waiting for many applications.
