| Explanation | This is a Geo tour to visit Chichibu's historical and cultural spots by bus.
In the ancient times (about 15 million years ago), the Chichibu Basin was under the sea (Old-Chichibu Bay). You will explore natural monuments created by the sea, pilgrimage temples and a limestone cave. And you can also experience "Chichibu Festival" at the festival museum, the festival was newly designated as UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage.
Depending on the weather condition, you may see a "sea of clouds" covering the Chichibu Basin,
which reminds you of Old-Chichibu Bay. *We perform the guidance of the guide in Japanese. |

| Point | Please gather at Shimonita station.The tour is walk around town of Shimonita with a guide for half das.We perform the guidance of the guide in Japanese. We observe outcrop of Median Tectonic Line across Shimonita, and Overthrust fault of Atokura nappe that It is chosen as 100 selections of Japanese geological features. They are traces of a dynamic geological feature phenomenon. On the other hand, we observe industrial heraitage. And we realize the history of the people who lived with the earth. | |

| Description | This tour is a sightseeing taxi tour around the World heritage Arafune cold storage. We ride a taxi separately after a reception desk at Shimonita station and move. There is a member of interpreter in Arafune cold storage. The interpretation is only Japanese. The interpreter does not go together other than Arafune cold storage. We visit World heritage Arafune cold storage that greatly contributed to the modernization of Japan.The Arafune cold storage was used by the cold insulation facilities using the chill which began to blow from the gap of a rock and the rock of the egg of the silkworm. And We visit the Japanese oldest mountain dairy KOUDU Diry Farm utilized the landslide topography..And we realize the history of the people who lived with the earth. | |

| Point | As Mt. Asama erupted, local people have been told that "the demon has been rampant, demons are playing prank". In 1783, Asama volcano erupted and lava was drawn out. As a result, the "Onioshidashi lava" which was also selected for the rocks of Gunma prefecture was seen. A pyroclastic flow also occurred at that eruption, creating a lava tree which is designated as a national special natural treasure. Also, a stone avalanche called “Tenmei Asama-oshi” occurred. A stone avalanche swallowed Kambara village, and 477 villagers died. 93 survivors have reconstructed their families and have revived the village. Until now, there is a tradition that has continued to pass down volcanic disasters at Okomorido. In this geo tour, set the theme of "demon's mischief" and feel about both the threats and the benefits of the volcano while visiting the geosite where evidence of the Tenmei third year eruption is seen. Rokurigahara is off-limits, but this time we can take a special permission to enter. ※Please participate in hiking boots or athletic shoes you are used to (2nd day) | ||
