・主な業績 Major achievements (in Japanese)

石原博士の最大の業績は花崗岩系列と鉱化作用の関連性について新しい理論を確立したことであり，日本から世界に向けて発信された画期的な成果のひとつである．石原博士が発案した花崗岩系列の簡便な判別方法は，花崗岩に伴う金属鉱床探査の上で非常に有効であり，世界的に広く利用されている．1980年代にはさらに日本列島以外の環太平洋造山帯の花崗岩にも調査を拡大し，南米チリー，中国，マレーシアなどの地質学者とも共同して研究を続け，花崗岩系列についての新しい理論が世界的規模で確立されることを示して，世界の金属資源探査，開発に貢献した．
