As President of the Seismological Society of Japan, he made a significant contribution to the realization of the Japan Earth and Planetary Science Joint Meeting by passing a resolution on the establishment of a consultative organization related to the holding of the joint meeting of Japan Earth and Planetary Science Joint Meeting, and by calling on other societies in cooperation with the Society of Geomagnetism and Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences.

He played a critical role in sustaining the Joint Meeting of the Geoscience Related Societies by establshing the Formal System for Organizing Joint Meeting. He led in organizing related societies and establishing the Japan Geoscience Union, which he represented for 8 years. Then on, he continued to work tirelessly for JpGU as the Chair of the Meeting Organizing Committee. His contributions are incomparable for the founding and promoting Japan Geoscience Union.

He served as the Program Committee chair of the first Joint Meeting of Geoscience Related Societies and as the first Secretary General of the Liaison Committee of Geoscience Related Societies for 10 years, greatly contributing to the founding and development of the Joint Meeting of Geoscience Related Societies.

After the first Joint Meeting of Geoscience Related Societies, he led the community to form a consensus to continue this meeting in the next and following years, and oversaw the second meeting as the chairperson of the Meeting Committee. He also called on geoscience related societies to play a key role in establishing a liaison committee of these societies.
