Geoscience education in future high school: "Integrated Geography" and "Basic Earth Science" Hiroaki Akimoto,Yasuhiro Taguchi,Norihiko Kobayashi,Takayuki Ogata ×
This session discusses geoscience education in senior high schools focused on "Integrated Geography" and "Basic Earth Science", involving high school students and public attendees. "Integrated Geography" will become a compulsory subject in the new Curriculum Guidelines (Courses of Study). Our discussion targets methodology for effective geoscience education. We welcome all participants including non JpGU members.

Mental care and Communication Strategies for Researchers Wonsuh Song,Chisato Yoshikawa,Yuki Suzuki ×
Researchers continue to challenge difficult problems in search of excellent research results. Mental anxiety, frustration and disorder caused by this process are great impediments not only to the progress of research but also to the activities of researchers themselves. We will introduce how to relieve stress and increase concentration and imagination. In addition, we will practice effective communication skills combining linguistic and nonverbal elements while demonstrating.

Kitchen Earth Science: brain stimulation by hands-on experiments Ichiro Kumagai,Miwa Kuri,Kei Kurita
“Kitchen Earth Science” aims at understanding a natural phenomenon in Earth and planetary sciences (e.g. volcanic eruption, seismic activities, and meteorological phenomena, etc.) by analogue experiments using goods and tools in our daily life. Here, we focus on “advantages of doing hands-on science experiments” and discuss the significance of analogue experiments with uncertainties. These cause unpredictable results, which may lead to a great success. We welcome all the participants who are interested in Kitchen Earth Science to stimulate your brain by hands-on science experiments.

The connection between earth sciences and society by Geoparks -Results and issues in the past decade- Noritaka Matsubara,Yayoi ICHIHASHI,Hokuto Obara,Marekazu Ohno
10 years have passed since the Geoparks started in Japan and it has grown as a channel for linking earth science and society. In this session, we would like to look back on our activities and discussions of the past decade, and discuss the feature of Japanese Geoparks.
