...Scientific Programs

Scientific programs are divided into four categories: Session, Regular session, Union session, and Public presentation. All sessions include both oral and poster presentations.


Session (S session)to top of this page
This session is held in order for the participants to have an interdisciplinary discussion about "hot" topics in the field of the Earth and planetary sciences. Proposals about this session is now invited on the designated page of the website. Deadline for the session proposal is 24 October, 2008. You can see the contents of the sessions held in 2007 and 2008 in the following list. The list contains session names, brief outline of the session, and representatives of conveners. After the deadline, the program committee is supposed to decide whether the proposed session will be adopted or not. If a proposed session coincides with one of the existent sessions, you may be asked to be a cosponsor of the existent session.

Regular session (R session)to top of this page
This Union sess session highly focuses on a specific theme in the field of the Earth and planetary sciences, and is going to be held regularly for the next five years. In addition to the sessions proposed by the institutions, there are some sessions that the Program Committee considers to be appropriate for a regular program because of their past achievements. Seventy-two main themes have been identified for the 2008 Meeting. The R sessions for the Meeting 2009 have already arranged by the Program Committee. Thus, no session proposal is now invited.

Union session (U session)to top of this page
Union session has a lot in common with the Earth and planetary sciences. It is a session where the up-to-date topics that many participants are interested in are discussed. As the union organizes it, no session proposal is invited. However, when the union considers a proposed idea to be appropriate for union session, it may be treated as such.

Public presentation (A session)to top of this page
Public presentation is an outreach program that is set in order for the public as well as for those who are involved in the Earth and planetary sciences to be familiar with the results of the Earth and planetary sciences. This presentation is easy enough for everyone to be familiar with the up-to-date information about the Earth and planetary sciences and the results of its research. It will also contain high school students' poster presentation. As the union organizes it, no session proposal is invited.

Several international sessions in the above 4 categories will be held in the JPGU Meeting 2009.
All presentations in international sessions must be made in English.
We hope many foreign researchers will participate in the JPGU Meeting 2009, taking full advantage of the international sessions.
