The session "geology and culture of active plate margin" deals with an interdisciplinary field that discusses the relationship between geology and human living on the active plate margin. We will make presentations on following research themes: (1) geology as a raw material, (2) geochemical analyses of archaeological remains, (3) relationship between geology and regional cultures, (4) geological education and public awareness in museum and geopark, (5) letters and philosophy with geology, and (6) geology and religion. We will make presentations of research results on all geological themes concerning human being living on the active plate margin as well as report of civic activities, to discuss what it means to live in the so geologically active Japanese archipelago.
