Scope |
We invite the ordinary citizen, especially secondary school students and undergraduate students, to join us in discussing the future of disaster education at schools. Japan is a country with many natural disasters such as weather-related disasters, sediment-related disasters, earthquake disasters, volcanic disasters, and so on. In order to reduce the damage caused by natural disasters in the future, it is important to learn about disaster prevention and mitigation. For this purpose, it is important to improve education about disaster prevention and mitigation at schools. The content taught in schools today have been applied new curricula since the 2020 school year (elementary school), the 2021 school year (lower secondary school), and the 2022 school year (upper secondary school). Among them, the content of learning about disaster prevention and disaster mitigation has increased. However, there are still some points that need to be improved. In this session, we, researchers and schoolteachers, would like to think together about how disaster education in schools should be conducted. In this session, we would like to think about the relationship between school education on disaster prevention and disaster mitigation and the zest for living needed in the real world. In other words, we would like to think together with secondary school students, undergraduate students, researchers and school teachers about the future of human resources and town developments including school education. We would also like to discuss and consider with you the ideal form of disaster education in schools. In particular, we encourage secondary school students and undergraduate students to actively participate in the discussions from the standpoint of learning about disaster prevention and mitigation. |
