Scope In recent years, extreme weather events have occurred frequently not only in Japan but also in other countries around the world. In particular, last year's typhoons 15 and 19 caused tremendous damage in Japan. This year's Atmospheric Electricity session will focus on observational and theoretical studies of atmospheric electrical phenomena associated with extreme weather. This session will consist of invited presentations introducing above-mentioned fields by leading experts, and contributed presentations on the latest observational and theoretical research results in these fields. For example, we welcome lightning activity associated with many of extreme weather events such as typhoons, heavy rains, wind gusts, and their effects on the upper atmosphere/ionosphere. Besides, we certainly welcome papers regarding all topics on atmospheric electricity including lightning physics, lightning observation technology, electrical effects of thunderstorms, mesospheric transient luminous events (TLEs), lightning-related high-energy phenomena, global electric circuit, atmospheric ion, aerosol, fair-weather electricity, lightning protection, terrestrial electromagnetic noise environment (e.g. wave propagation in the magnetosphere and ionosphere).
