日本各地のジオパークとその候補地における、地球科学の教育・普及、ガイド養成、地形・地質遺産の保全、ツーリズムによる地域活性化などの活動について情報交換と議論を行う。研究者だけでなく、広くジオパークに関わる関係者の発表を募集する
Activities in geoparks and prospective geoparks such as education of earth science, training of guides, conservation of geoheritage and regional development by tourism will be reported and discussed. We expect participation of wide ranges of people who are interested in geoparks.

4．スコープ
日本ジオパーク委員会によるジオパーク候補地の審査のうち、候補地の運営者によるプレゼンテーションと質疑応答の部分を公開で行う。
公開審査の後、委員による非公開の議論、さらに現地審査を経て、新たな日本ジオパークネットワーク加盟の可否、あるいは世界ジオパークネットワーク加盟推薦に対する日本ジオパーク委員会の推薦の可否を決定する。一般発表は受け付けない。
Presentations for the evaluation of prospective Geoparks by Japan Geopark Committee will be made by the candidate areas. The evaluation process includes this presentation, discussion by the Committee members closed to the public and on-site survey. After this evaluation process, new Japan Geoparks and the candidate to Global Geoparks will be decided in this autumn.
