Structure, Dynamics & Composition of Earth & Planetary Cores
Scope
The Earth's core remains arguably the most enigmatic and problematic region of the deep Earth's interior. Recent studies in computation, simulation, experimentation, and seismic propagation have led to new discoveries and theories on the composition, structure, dynamics, and evolution of Earth's core, as well as the cores of other planetary bodies such as the Moon and Mars. We now must bring together these new data and theories from disparate fields and integrate them toward advancing our understanding of planetary cores. This session provides a multidisciplinary forum to discuss recent research advances and exchange new ideas about future directions of core study. We welcome contributions on the inner and outer cores of the Earth, as well as the cores of other planetary bodies, from a broad variety of disciplines, including experimental and computational mineral physics, seismology, geodynamics, geo/cosmochemistry, and any other relevant fields that can contribute to this discussion.
