Evolutionary dynamics: life systems founded on solar energy
Scope
Contemporary life on Earth has foundations in the dynamic evolution of photosynthetic processes that convert solar radiation into biochemical energy. The common perspective on eukaryotic diversity that existed merely a decade ago has quickly been replaced by new protistologic perspectives. This renewed horizon depicts that the mechanisms of photosynthesis, established back in the Archean, has drifted between various lineages and thereby diversified the whole spectrum of life on Earth. Most of the modern phototrophic diversity is found among aquatic microbes. The solar life, which consists of networks extended from microbial photosynthetic systems, have driven the evolution of biogeochemical cycles and established the modern surface systems of our planet. We invite speakers from the forefront of phototroph research, in order to illustrate the latest overview of life systems under keywords such as diversity, symbiosis, biological interactions, and ecosystems.
