| スコープ | This session is submitted on behalf of the Advocate for Global and Domestic Policies Task Team, part of the Global Geoscience Societies Consortium. Conveners include Mark Shimamoto from American Geophysical Union, Alex Rudloff from the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, Yamirka Rojas from the International Union of Geological Sciences, Taikan Oki from Japan Geoscience Union, and Philippe Courtial from the European Geosciences Union.
The session will explore how the global scientific community can safeguard the independence, integrity, and freedom of science amid growing political, economic, and societal pressures worldwide. Conveners will lead a discussion on strategies to maintain trust in science, protect researcher autonomy, and promote open collaboration across borders.
Expected outcomes:
Deepen understanding of global factors affecting scientific independence and collaboration.
Discuss how international scientific unions and associations can advocate for science infrastructure, investment, and evidence-based policymaking.
Identify pathways to sustain and strengthen the global scientific and research ecosystem.
Footnote:
After approval, please avoid scheduling during nighttime in European time. The conveners aim to include a diverse panel of experts representing a range of global perspectives.
