The sea level of the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM; centred on 21,000 years ago) was 120-135 meters lower than the present level. The post-LGM transgression made continental shelves hold a submerged record of Late Glacial landscape (ca. 15,000 to 11,700 years ago). The recent development of underwater survey devices, such as side-scan sonars, sub-bottom profilers, and underwater drones, have unlocked a high-precision modeling of sea/lake bottom to reconstruct submerged past landscape, which was associated with past human activities on the coastal area. This session reviews (but is not limited to) the latest research on the submerged landscape with the aid of state-of-the-art approaches. We hope this session be an opportunity of networking experts in related fields to develop this interdisciplinary field of research in geoscience.
