スコープ和文Developing links between research and education is important for maximizing the impact of Earth and Space Sciences and for nurturing a global geoliterate community. Initiatives involving research, education and public engagement abound, building communities that bring educators, researchers and those with dual interests together is, however, not always straightforward. While many researchers are engaged in activities at national and international levels, educators may focus on projects primarily shaped by institutional and national priorities. In this session, we investigate the challenges and opportunities of advancing research-education synergies in Earth and Space Sciences through engaging the general public and local communities. We focus on success stories showcasing educational and outreach initiatives that aim to bring researchers and educators together. Ways of fostering collaborations, evidencing impact and developing leadership will be highlighted. Projects that address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are particularly welcomed.
