Scope Granitic rocks are key to understand the formation of continents and their resources. In recent years, considerable developments in petrochronology have provided new insights into the history and the processes controlling the diversity of granitic rocks. These tools enhance our understanding of the processes involved in the origin and evolution of granitic magmas, including magma fractionation and degassing. This session welcomes submissions on, but not limited to, the following aspects: insights using petrochronology and chemistry into the processes controlling granitic evolution, such as fractional crystallization, magma hybridization, timing and duration of granitic magmatism, and the origin of highly evolved granitic magmas, such as pegmatites, and evidence for fluid exsolution during magmatism, as well as the controls exerted by these processes on mineralization.
