Scope Marine plastic waste management often stalls at the sea shore interface because materials collected at sea are wet, heterogeneous, and costly to handle on land. This session invites ocean scientists, environmental engineers, materials researchers, and practitioners to discuss end to end solutions that bridge collection and treatment. Topics include on board dewatering and low temperature drying, binder assisted solidification, compaction and shaping, waste heat recovery, and logistics that cut greenhouse gas intensity and cost. We welcome at sea trials in the Northwest Pacific and around Japan, life cycle assessment that benchmarks ship and shore options, emission control and safety, and studies on pathways for recycling, energy recovery, or safe landing. Contributions on sensing and monitoring of debris flows, coastal operations, fleet deployment, and policy or business models that enable scale up are also encouraged. By integrating data, methods, and practice, the session aims to define design rules and performance metrics for in situ stabilization and circular outcomes. The session aligns with the JpGU AGU theme Transformative Science for Life and Earth and encourages interdisciplinary work across academia, industry, and NGOs.
