| Scope |
Development of information technology (e.g., AI, VR, AR, SNS) has contributed to information growth and the most of contents includes amount of information today. The development also has promoted the shift from mass media characterized by a unidirectional flow to network media characterized by interactivity. In education of Earth Science, some educational materials have changed to analog to digital and the interactive teaching can be achieved by using some network media. These changes essentially contribute to improve the learning effect. On the other hand, in some contents, the learners possibly have difficulties in information processing of huge amount of information provided with digital contents, or a human error likely occurs by an erroneous mental model. In this session, we will share the information of various kinds of contents concerning Earth Science (websites, geopark information boards, museum displays/point-of-purchase advertising, educational materials, hazard maps, disaster prevention signage, disaster prevention portals, etc.) and discuss on the way of effective teaching/informing from the perspective of Information Design. |
