JpGU-AGU Joint Meeting 2026 is the first joint meeting with AGU since 2020. As in recent years, we plan to hold the meeting in the hybrid format, mixing on-site (at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City) and online.
The meeting will be held for six days from May 24 (Sun.) to May 29 (Fri.), 2026.
The unique policies of the joint meeting are as follows
- All sessions are regarded as joint sessions with AGU (no joint application with AGU is required). The maximum number of conveners that can be registered per session is 6.
- To promote genuine international exchange, English is the main language of the meeting. We encourage participants to communicate with each other in a respectful and considerate manner.
Notes on J-sessions, in which Japanese is chosen as the session language:
- Conveners provide the reason for proposing J sessions in the session scope so that the participants can understand. Non-Japanese speakers can attend and presentations in English are possible, even for J sessions.
- Text in slides/posters must be in English (Japanese may be included alongside), while verbal communication (oral presentation, Q & A, etc.) can be given in either English or Japanese. The oral presentation language will be the choice of the presenter.
Oral presentations at the meeting are to be given live either in person at the venue or online via Zoom. Presenters are free to choose whether to present on-site or online. We are planning to allow the chairpersons and conveners to be able to run the sessions without necessarily present on site.
All poster presentation materials must be posted online (in each presenter's web space on the "Confit" website) and can be optionally displayed at the on-site venue during the on-site venue (no online webcast). Materials to be posted online can be the same as those displayed on site. The on-site poster core time was set to end at 19:15 PM in JpGU Meeting 2025, but will be changed to 19:00 PM in this meeting. We look forward to more dense presentations and discussions in the core time.
In addition, we plan to hold a variety of other events during the meeting, such as more powerful social gatherings, field trip programs, etc. to ensure that all participants have a fulfilling meeting experience. As a special feature of the joint meeting, plenary lectures by prominent people from various fields will be held every day during lunchtime, except for the first day. We encourage you to attend the plenary lectures!
More details about the meeting will be posted on the meeting website and through e-mail news as soon as they are finalized. We will continue to make every effort to ensure a safe, stable, and fulfilling meeting, and we would appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
