Scope (Session Description) |
Promoting EDI in the societies is essential and one of the best strategic approaches to address diverse and complicated problems in these difficult ages such as boiling earth, global outbreaks of infectious, frequent large-scale disasters and conflicts.
In this session, we aim at discussing various issues related to EDI in the earth science field. We plan to share information on EDI/DEI-related efforts within AGU, EGU, and JpGU, and to present issues.
We welcome information, initiatives, and suggestions on EDI/DEI from academic societies, universities, organizations, research groups, and individuals. Contributions are solicited on the following topics:
-Role models to inspire and further motivate others (life experience and/or their contributions to promote equality)
-Imbalanced representation, preferably supported by data, for awards, medals, grants, high-level positions, invited talks and papers
-Perceived and real barriers to inclusion (personally, institutionally, culturally)
-Recommendations for new and innovative strategies to identify and overcome barriers
