Scope |
The violent eruptions of Nishinoshima, Fukutoku-Oka-no-Ba, and Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haapai attracted public attention: the eyes of the world are upon volcanoes in the sea. These eruptions are, however, diverse, and unpredictable, and it is often difficult to prepare for such disasters to take effective measures. A comparison of the Japanese and international oceanic arc volcanoes may help to make comprehensive understandings of oceanic arc volcanoes, predict, and prepare possible future eruptions. Volcanoes in the sea include oceanic arcs, mid-ocean ridges, hot spots, and submarine large igneous provinces: we encourage presentations of geologists, geophysicists, petrologists, geochemists, who are involved in the studies of volcanoes in the sea. |
