| Scope | Various geophysical and hydro-chemical changes have increasingly been recorded by different kinds of instruments located on ground, in the atmosphere and at sea-bottom before earthquake occurrences in many seismic regions of the world. They include changes in the occurrence of slow-slip events, low-frequency tremors, geomagnetic fields, stream flow, water level and chemistry, and soil-gas chemistry. Different mechanisms have been proposed to explain such changes. This session provides an opportunity for a wide spectrum of scientists to present new data, ideas, and theories toward short-term earthquake prediction as well as long-term forecast based on probabilistic approaches. | |
