Scope | Mantle plays a key role on the present-day topography. If the temperature is one of the key parameters, the chemical composition of the mantle is also very important. In the last 20 years, different approaches tried to bring new information on the thermochemical structure of the mantle. The development of high-performance computational infrastructures (HPCI) and new algorithms to manage the processing of big data brings new opportunities to produce high-resolution images and better understanding of mantle dynamics. This session wishes to bring together contributions from experimental geophysics and computational geochemistry to large scale geodynamics, which are aimed at imaging and modeling thermochemical structure on different time scales. Presentations of new methods combining multiple observations of geophysical and geochemical datasets with regional to global geophysical modeling are particularly encouraged. | |
