Scope | The Philippine Sea plate and smaller East Asia marginal basins have been sandwiched by convergence of the larger Pacific and Indo-Australian plates towards Eurasia, producing some of the most active tectonic environments on Earth. The last decade has yielded a wide range of new observations that include geologic data along the plate margins, crustal to mantle imaging, and the geometry of subducted slabs. Together, these new perspectives have important implications for understanding the dynamics of plate interactions in this region. Here we seek oral and poster presentations that bear on the geologic history and geophysical character of modern and ancient plates in East Asia. We also invite geodynamic models that integrate these diverse datasets into a more holistic view of this dynamic environment. | |
