Scope |
A new comprehensive framework and integrative research platform for global sustainability studies called Future Earth has been established. Many of the former core projects of IGBP (International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme), IHDP (International Human Dimensions Programme) and the other international global environmental change programmes have joined it in order to continue and further develop their missions in a more transdisciplinary context. This Session aims to discuss the key issues for implementation of Future Earth in general, and the challenges of geoscience including its incorporation of human and social aspects of global change, such as done in GLP (Global Land Project), in particular.
