| Scope |
The ferromanganese oxide deposits are integrated precipitates of hydrogenetic iron and manganese oxide with minor useful metal elements. The recent exploration of the deposits using ROV mapping and deep-sea drill provide us with new findings on mineralogy, geochemistry, microbiology, and physical engineering. The session reposts the results of munti-disciplinary, multi-institutional investigation of origin, growth process, resource potential of hydrogenetic and diagenetic ferromanganese nodules and crusts in the Northwestern Pacific oceans.
