英文 | Natural hazards (earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunami, hurricanes/typhoons/cyclone, landslides, snow avalanches, subsidence, droughts, floods, forest fires, dust storms, lightning, coastal erosion, harmful algal blooms) are associated with the land, ocean and atmosphere. There are evidences that the impact of these natural hazards are increasing on our lives throughout the globe, and that the spatial and temporal variations of these natural hazards are associated with strong coupling between land-ocean-atmosphere. Numerous low and high altitude orbiting satellite sensors are now capable of monitoring the land, ocean and atmosphere during the day and night. Networks for in situ measurements are also developed for specific applications, such as, seismographs and GPS for the earthquake and tsunami, weather radars for extreme rainfall. Using all observations and modelling tools will help to improve our ability to predict natural hazards, and reduce their impacts through timely dissemination of information for better planning and mitigation. Contributions related to new satellite observations, innovative analysis tools, damage assessment, human and ecological impacts, and advanced modeling techniques for monitoring, mapping, damage assessment and early warning of natural hazards are welcome. | ||
