日本における原子力発電所の在り方について，地球科学的見地からの議論を行う
場をオープンにかつ継続的に設けることは，地球科学と社会とのかかわりを考え
る上で必要な作業であると考え，2013年よりセッションを開催している．昨年の
セッション「日本の原子力発電と地球科学：地震・火山科学の限界を踏まえて」
において，コミュニティー内にとどまって議論するのではなく「公共空間」での
議論の必要性が認識された．今回はそれをふまえて，パブリックセッションで議論する。
静岡県の浜岡原子力発電所は巨大地震の想定震源域直上に位置し、地震・津波の想定に基づく様々な
対策が取られている。この様な事情から同原発は原子力発電と自然災害および地球科学の関係を象徴する
存在と考えられる。本セッションでは対象を浜岡原発に絞り、同原発に関する最新の地球科学的研究成果の
検討を軸に、同原発と地球科学界との関連の歴史的総括及び今後のあるべき関係、といったトランス
サイエンス的な話題も取り入れて議論する。

The Hamaoka nuclear power plant, Shizuoka, is located right above the expected fault plane of a forthcoming mega-thrust earthquake. Various hazard mitigation programs have been deployed based on the assessments of disasters following the earthquake and tsunami. Therefore it would be considered as a unique nuclear power plant that may symbolize the relationship between the earth science community and the nuclear power plants. In this session, focusing on the Hamaoka plant, we shall discuss about the state of the art earth science researches associated with the plant, historical assessments of the relationship between earth science and the plant hitherto, and possible future relationship.
