Morphology and variable phenomena, seen on the surface, in the atmosphere and its surrounding plasma, all indicate that Mars is still an active planet. In Japan, MELOS mission has been discussed. The current plan involves an orbiter and an engineering demonstration lander (or atmosphere sample return vehicle).
