{"id":2192,"date":"2019-07-23T12:46:21","date_gmt":"2019-07-23T03:46:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jpgu.org\/en\/?page_id=2192"},"modified":"2019-07-31T10:07:25","modified_gmt":"2019-07-31T01:07:25","slug":"2020representatives-election","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.jpgu.org\/en\/2020representatives-election\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Announcement of the 2020 JpGU Representative Election"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"contents\">\r\n\r\n<p align=\"left\">\r\nThe term of office of those who were elected in the 2018 JpGU Representative Election is due to expire on March 31st, 2020.<br\/>\r\nJpGU will hold the 2020 JpGU Representative Election to choose new representatives to replace them. <br\/>\r\nVoting will take place between October 2nd and November 1st 2019. Anyone who wishes either to vote or to stand as a candidate in the Representative Election must be a JpGU member as of 5pm Japan time on 11th July 2019.\r\n<br\/><br\/>\r\n\r\nElection Administration Committee members(listed in alphabetical order):<br\/>\r\nYuji Ichiyama, Takehi Isse, Koji Kodera, Hiroyuki Nakata, Takehiko Suzuki, Takanobu Tsuihiji <br\/>\r\n<br\/><br\/>\r\n<hr align=\"center\" size=\"2\" width=\"100%\"\/>\r\n==2020 JpGU Representative Election Rules and Procedures==<br\/><br\/>\r\n1.Voters<br\/>\r\nAnyone who is a fully paid up JpGU member as of 5pm Japan time on July 11th 2017 is eligible to vote. Each electoral zone will choose a fixed number of representatives. Voters can cast votes for one or more candidates in their electoral zone, the maximum number of votes per voter being half of the number of representatives to be chosen for their electoral zone.<br\/><br\/>\r\n2.Candidates<br\/>\r\nAnyone who is a fully paid up JpGU member as of 5pm Japan time on July 11th 2019 is eligible to be a candidate in the representative election.<br\/><br\/>\r\n3.Term<br\/>\r\nThose who are elected will serve a two year term starting from April 1st 2020.<br\/><br\/>\r\n4.Standing as a candidate<br\/>\r\nJpGU members may put themselves forward as candidates and they may also recommend other members who they think would make good candidates. Members who recommend others for candidacy must obtain consent from their proposed candidate before submitting their recommendation. Both submitting oneself as a candidate and recommending others is done online using the JpGU Member&#8217;s Site.<br\/><br\/>\r\n\r\n5.Deadline for Submission of Candidacy<br\/>\r\nThose who wish to be a candidate or to recommend others as candidates must submit the relevant online form by 5pm  Japan time on September 12th 2019.<br\/><br\/>\r\n\r\n6.Number of Representatives to be Elected<br\/>\r\nThe total number of representatives is fixed at 150.<br\/>\r\n 5 representatives are automatically assigned to each of the six electoral zones (for a total of 30 representatives).<br\/>\r\n The remaining 120 representatives are assigned to the electoral zones in direct proportion to the number of regular JpGU members in each zone as of July 31st 2019.<br\/><br\/>\r\nFor the 2020 JpGU Representative Election the number of representatives for each electoral zone is shown below.<br\/><br\/>\r\n\r\nSpace and Planetary Sciences: 23<br\/>\r\nAtmospheric and Hydrospheric Sciences: 31<br\/>\r\nHuman Geosciences: 18<br\/>\r\nSolid Earth Sciences: 48<br\/>\r\nBiogeosciences: 13<br\/>\r\nEducation and Outreach: 17<br\/>  Total: 150<br\/><br\/>\r\n\r\n7.Schedule<br\/>\r\nOfficial announcement of Representative Election: Thursday August 1st 2019<br\/>\r\nPeriod for declaration of candidacy starts: 9am on Tuesday August 13th 2019<br\/>\r\nPeriod for declaration of candidacy ends: 5pm on Thursday September 12th 2019<br\/>\r\nVoting starts: 9am on Wednesday October 2nd 2019<br\/>\r\nVoting ends: 5pm on Friday November 1st 2019<br\/>\r\nAnnouncement of results: Thursday November 7th 2019<br\/><br\/>\r\n*All dates and times are in Japan Standard Time (UTC+09:00).<br\/><br\/>\r\n\r\n8.How to vote<br\/>\r\nEach regular member can vote for up to half of the number of representatives to be chosen for their electoral zone (rounded up if the number of representatives is a odd number)<br\/>Votes are cast online using the JpGU Membership System.<br\/><br\/>\r\n<hr align=\"center\" size=\"2\" width=\"100%\"\/>\r\nForms and Regulations<br\/>\r\n1.To stand as a candidate: log-in to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpgu-member.org\/jpgu\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">the JpGU Members Site<\/a> and fill in and submit the &#8220;Stand as a Candidate&#8221; form.<br\/><br\/>\r\n2.To recomnmend a candidate: log-in to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpgu-member.org\/jpgu\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">the JpGU Members Site<\/a> and fill in and submit the &#8220;Recommend a Candidate&#8221; form.<br\/><br\/>\r\n<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/senkyokanriiinkai.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Regulations of  the Election Management Committee<\/a> (only available in Japanese)<br\/>\r\n<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/daigiinsenkyokisoku.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Regulations of the Representative Election<\/a> (only available in Japanese)<br\/>\r\n<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/daigiinsenkyozissikisoku.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Detailed Regulations of the Representative Election<\/a> (only available in Japanese)<br\/><br\/><br\/>\r\nAll rules, procedures, dates and times etc. governing the JpGU Representative Election are formally announced in Japanese.
