JpGU Relief Fund for the Great Tohoku Kanto Earthquake
March 22, 2011

To all Geoscientists

On behalf of the Japan Geoscience Union (JpGU), I would like to offer our heartfelt condolences for all those affected by the devastation caused by the Great Tohoku Kanto of March 11, 2011. This event has caused great damage to the field of geosciences in a large part of Japan, and we see an essential role for our scientific community at large to support the necessary reconstruction. In sympathy with all our fellow scientists and their associates who have suffered so much from the recent Earthquake, the JpGU has decided to establish a fund to contribute to the reconstruction. This fund will be used to provide support towards the rebuilding of education and research in the geosciences that have been affected by the earthquake.
