We ask for your cooperation with the following measures to be implemented at the JPGU meeting 2009 in response to the current outbreak of a new strain of influenza.

For participants entering / returning to Japan from affected countries

Those who have entered Japan within 7 days of the start of the JPGU meeting 2009 and have flu-like symptoms, including fever, coughing or a sore throat, should be checked for infection at a public health center or Fever Advisory Center prior to attending the meeting. Those who have confirmed that they are not infected with the new strain of influenza and have recovered may attend. Please mention your health status at the registration desk.

All participants who have entered Japan within 7 days of the start of the JPGU meeting 2009 will be asked to give an emergency contact information at registration. We ask that you wear a mask during the meeting whenever possible. Anti-virus masks will be provided at the registration desk.

Those who experience flu-like symptoms, including fever and coughing during the meeting must immediately withdraw and proceed to the on-site first-aid room and contact the Influenza Control Headquarters.

For all other participants

All other participants will also be asked to give an emergency contact information at registration. This is to assist with emergency response measures in the case of outbreak of a secondary infection at the meeting site. All personal information will be responsibly disposed of following the meeting at the end of the incubation period.

Additionally, to protect yourself from infection at the meeting site, please wash your hands and gargle thoroughly and frequently. Anti-virus masks will be available on request from the reception desk at a cost of 100 yen.
